Agrocell Kitchen & Dining at White Desert, Dhordo
Material / Technique • Stone masonry, Wood Understructure, Mudrolls and Reclaimed Country tiles
Agrocell Industries manufactures bromine and has a factory in the midst of the White Dessert spread on the northern part of Kutch district. Daily commuting to the factory is difficult for the staff, so they stay continuously for 15 days. The management of Agrocell wanted a decent Kitchen and Dinning facility in the factory premises.
Taking into account the prevailing saline environment, the facility was specifically planned using locally sourced high-quality natural stone that has proven to be resilient in saline climates. Likewise, recycled wood obtained from an old shipbreaking yard was utilized. To incorporate local material techniques, country tiles and mud rolls were installed for the roofing, serving both as insulation and paneling.
