Centre for Agriculture and Horticulture at Manar
Scope • Rammed Earth Walls With Wooden Door Window in Reclaimed Wood
The Agri-Horticulture Centre, a project supported by Pidilite and implemented by Grama Daxina Murti Lokshala, aimed to benefit the local farming community. Architect Mihir Thakar designed the center with a focus on incorporating environmentally-friendly materials. In this regard, in-situ Stabilized Rammed Earth (SRE) walls were constructed within frame structures, complemented by the use of recycled wooden doors and windows. The dedicated team of artisans successfully constructed approximately 7500 cubic feet of SRE as part of the project.
Under the guidance of Sankalan, master carpenters utilized recycled wood sourced from the Alang ship breaking yard to create wooden doors and windows of approximately 3300 square feet in area.
