The Qatar Museum Authority invited Sankalan(Hunnarshala) to be part of the Old Qatar Fort restoration project. The Old Qatar National Museum, originally built by stone and lime in the early 20th century by Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim Al-Thani.The Qatar Museum Authority (QMA) planned to build a new national museum in the vicinity of the old museum.

The scope of Sankalan (Hunnarshala) work was to restore the old museum building using traditional building technique such as stone and lime.A team of 30-35 artisans, supervisors, technical experts were involved in the first phase of the work i.e. carefully and technically demolish the dilapidated old museum structure in such a way that the important elements of the building are intact and the originality is maintained. This work was completed in a span of 6 months.
