Sankalan Training Centre at Bhuj

Material / Technique • Rammed Earth Walls, CSEB, Adobe masonry walls, Wooden understructure and reclaimed country tiles, manglore tiles, thatch roof, Catalan Structure

Training being one of the main objectives of Sankalan, a need was felt to create a space secluded from the buzz of town life and in midst of nature, where a focused learning experience could be offered to the participants.

The Training Centre has been designed based on the requirement of spaces for conducting hands-on training programs for a group of 50-plus participants. In this facility, basic laboratory tests, and hands-on sessions on techniques such as Rammed Earth, Adobe, Wattle & Daub, Vaults, Arches, and Domes can be implemented. The center also has a pantry to serve lunch and tea to visitors. The design and construction process is dynamic in nature and new spaces evolve from time to time. The materials and techniques used to construct this center are mainly natural.
