The Villa at Sedata
Material / Technique • Rammed Earth Walls, Wooden understructure and reclaimed country tiles
The Villa is a luxurious gated residential cluster located 10 km away from Bhuj town. The architectural design, created by Blocher Partners, aimed to incorporate natural materials in the construction of each villa. The walls of The Villa were constructed using the Stabilized Rammed Earth technique, utilizing stone dust obtained from a nearby site.
The pitch roof accompanied by a wooden understructure was constructed. Recycled insulation sheets and water proofing sheets were used. Reclaimed country tiles which were sourced from nearby villages were employed for the roofing material.
The construction of over 40 villas followed this approach, with Sankalan and So Hath - 100 Hands team overseeing the implementation process.
