Dr Yogananda M R

Dr. Yogananda M. R. obtained his Ph.D in structural engineering in 1991 from IISc. While he was working as a research fellow in the Karnataka State council for Science and Technology. His thesis for the doctoral degree was on the unreinforced masonry vaults. He was actively involved in the research and development programmes on alternative building technologies carried out at the centre of ASTRA and department of civil engineering, IISc from 1979 to 1993. He started MRINMAYEE, a consultant firm on mud blocks and building alternatives including a testing laboratory for the technology dissemination and eco-friendly building design.  He was involved in the design and development of manually operated soil block press MARDINI to produce stabilized mud blocks. He is also associated with GRAMVIDYA, a voluntary organization for research and dissemination of alternative technology. He is actively involved in conducting hands-on workshops for students and professionals interested in alternative ideas.
